Suspected gangsters gunned down in botched robbery at Mlango Kubwa


Two suspected gangsters were on Tuesday morning shot dead in Mlango Kubwa area, Nairobi following a botched robbery.

The suspects had already robbed three victims and seriously injuring one of them when police officers on patrol responded to distress calls by members of the public.

The officers managed to shoot two on the suspects while an accomplice fled.

Police recovered a revolver loaded with three rounds of ammunition and a Somali sword.

ARRESTED

Meanwhile, a Police Constable based in Kitengela was arrested on Tuesday by the detectives from Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

Constable Steve Omondi was arrested in Embakasi for demanding bribes from members of the public.

According to the detectives, Omondi arrested a man for an undisclosed offense within Kasarani area and demanded for Sh25,000 to secure his release.

A Toyota Mark II Vehicle which Omondi was driving during the arrest has been detained by the detectives.

The suspect is currently in police custody and will be taken to court once necessary police process is completed.
