Form Four student shoots himself in the head in attempted suicide
Police in Nairobi are investigating a case where a Form Four student at a school in Nairobi on Tuesday shot himself in the head using his father’s firearm in suspected suicide attempt.
The teen is son of a head of security company with a leading corporate.
The incident occurred in Muthangari estate where the teen locked himself in his room and tried to blow head off.
He was rushed to hospital in critical condition where he was admitted in intensive care unit (ICU).
Police officers recovered a ceska pistol with 11 rounds of ammunition and one spent cartridge.
His father, who is a retired major, is a licensed fire arm owner. Both his parents are currently out of the country.
In Ruaraka, Starehe constituency, a licensed gun holder on Tuesday evening reported the loss of his firearm at his residence. The man said he left his house in the evening and went out for a business meeting.
And when he returned, he found out that his house had been broken into and two safes, one which was on the table and another mounted on the wall containing his ceska pistol, two magazines with 23 rounds of ammunition of 9mm were missing.
