The sick claim healing at ‘Prophet’ Owuor prayer rally
The Ministry of Repentance and Holiness leader was given a tumultuous welcome at Kibos Grounds in Kisumu on Thursday.
Dr David Owuor, who followers believe is a prophet, travelled to the lakeside town for a three-day end year service.
Business came to a standstill at Kondele as the convoy snaked through major streets of Kisumu. Security was beefed up in the town.
Youths jammed highways expecting Dr Owuor to address them.
NEXT PRESIDENT
“We want him to tell us who will be the next President of Kenya. Let him tell us if it will be ODM leader Raila Odinga,” a Mr Steve Omondi told the Nation in Kondele.
Dr Owuor’s security and police officers cleared the road from Acacia Premier Hotel where he spent his night to the Kibos Grounds.
Armed with vuvuzelas, whistles, blow horns and trumpets, the youths urged Dr Owuor to address them but were disappointed as the vehicles in the convoy rushed to the venue.
Seemingly undeterred by the sweltering heat, the worshippers, who were running alongside the long convoy, wiped sweat with their palms as others waved banners.
At the venue of the meeting, the crowd was huge. Flags of several countries flew. They included the US, Israel, Angola, Uganda and Tanzania.
The meeting organisers had earlier said it would attract people from across the globe.
THE BLIND SEE
Mr Julius Nyaga from Tharaka-Nithi claimed that he arrived in Kisumu on crutches a few days ago and could now walk.
People claiming to have been healed from blindness also testified at the grounds.
The different large groups waved banners with inscriptions “Welcome Mighty Prophet of the Lord”.
Dr Owuor will be in the town until January 2 to lead his followers in prayer meetings. They began flocking the town early this week.
