Tragedy as Robert Ouko’s widow Christabel dies in freak accident
Mrs Christabel Ouko, the widow of the former Foreign Affairs Minister Dr Robert Ouko is dead.
Mrs Ouko died in a road accident that occurred at Kipsitet area along Awasi-Kericho highway, according to police.
She had attended the inauguration ceremony of Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o on Monday and was heading back home.
Mrs Ouko was being driven by her son who survived the accident. Their vehicle rolled off-course, police say.
Her late husband, Robert Ouko, served as Foreign Minister from 1979 to 1983 and from 1988 to 1990.
Coincidentally, the accident that claimed the life of Mrs Ouko happened in the same area her husband had an accident a few days before his disappearance and death.
Mr Ouko disappeared on February 13, 1990 and his body was discovered in Got Alila Hill on February 16 same year by a herds-boy.
His death still remains one of the many unresolved political assassinations in Kenya.
