Transline Classic distances itself from viral video of jubilant Ruto support
Public transport company, Transline Classic, has distanced itself from a viral video that captured one of its employees celebrating the Supreme Court verdict that upheld president-elect William Ruto’s election victory.
In the video, a man who is dressed in the company’s uniform is seen shouting and running on the streets while celebrating the verdict which dealt a major blow on Azimio la Umoja – One Kenya Coalition presidential candidate Raila Odinga.

“Wake up! He has been defeated again! Come out and see how he has been defeated again!” the man is seen shouting while filming himself.
But in a statement, the company has said the video of the employee, who is a casual worker at the company’s Afya Center terminus in Nairobi, does not in any way represent the company’s political view.

“Our attention has been drawn by a video clip going round the social media… However, we disassociate ourselves from the clip and state that it was done by an individual’s will and does not in any way represent the views of the company,” the statement reads in part.
The company also noted that disciplinary measures have been taken on the said employee. The company has further apologized to their customers, saying that they are in business and not in politics.

“We apologize to everybody, especially to our esteemed customers for the offending clip. We will continue to give the best services to all our customers,” the company said.
Transline Classic’s fleet of buses, vans and shuttles ply various routes to upcountry destinations including Nakuru, Kisumu, Eldoret, Kisii, Migori, Kitale, Siaya and Mombasa.
