Here is how Twitter reacted to Shebesh’s gracious concession
Nairobi woman representative Rachel Shebesh of the Jubilee Party has conceded losing the seat to ODM’s Esther Passaris.
In a press conference in Nairobi on Wednesday evening, Shebesh also congratulated Passaris for her victory.
She went on to thank Nairobi residents for allowing her to be the county’s first woman representative.
“I want to start by congratulating my competitor Esther Passaris for winning the seat of women rep for Nairobi County. I also want to say that we did our campaigns with a lot of respect for one another and decorum and it is for that reason that it makes my heart much lighter to be able to speak to her now,” she said.
Shebesh said Passaris was aware of the projects she started as woman representative and said she was confident Passaris will ensure the projects are completed so as to change lives.
The woman representative went on to congratulate President Uhuru Kenyatta, Governor Mike Sonko and Senator Johnson Sakaja who are all expected to win in their respective races.
Shebesh went on to urge other losers – particularly the Nasa leadership – to accept defeat as in every election there are winners and losers.
Here are some of the reactions to Shebesh’s concession speech:
