What Police found at Yesu wa Tongaren’s home

Comical preacher Eliud Simiyu Wekesa also known as Yesu wa Tongaren has revealed a clear ‘picture’ of what police officers found in his house.

Addressing journalists on May 16, 2023 after the court freed him unconditionally, the Lukhokhwe village, Bungoma based pastor said the officers found several tomatoes and onions in his house.

Mr Simiyu was arrested on May 10, 2023, over allegations of running a religious cult in Tongaren, purporting to be Jesus Christ, teaching radical ideologies to his followers, some of whom are minors, as well as practising and promoting money laundering, and May 13 he took police officers to his home.

“They found six tomatoes and four bulb onions,” Mr Simiyu recounted amid laughter from the church members and friends who accompanied him to court.

The leader of New Jerusalem Church in Bungoma County, has been in police custody since his arrest.

The grilling by the detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), saw them probe him further by visiting his residence at Lukhokhwe village.

Hilariously, he informed them that the detectives found Sh250 offerings.

Detectives captured photos of offerings

“They counted and captured photos of the Sh250 church offerings,” Mr Simiyu stated.

In my home, I do not even have a bicycle and those who have visited me can attest to what I am saying, said the preacher, adding that his house is made of mud.

“The muddy church, I have decorated it with white lime so that it looks appealing. My wealth is hair, beards and stars God has put in me.”

Bungoma Principal Magistrate Tom Orlando freed him after the prosecution said they had no evidence against him.

Yesu wa Tongaren was represented by the former presidential aspirant 2022 general elections, Prof George Wajackoyah of Roots Party.

Earlier this year, he struck media headlines by insinuating that only 168, 000 people across the world will go to heaven.

In Nairobi, Simiyu said only two people will inherit God’s Kingdom and that they are not born yet.
