KPLC Director Veska Kangogo on the spot amid assault claims

Police in Athi River, Machakos County are investigating an incident where a former Nairobi County Executive Committee (CEC) member was involved in an alleged assault case.

Nairobi News has established that Ms Veska Kangogo, who is currently serving as a director at the Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) allegedly assaulted a bar attendant identified as Ms Beth Njeri.

A detective who is privy to the ongoing matter told this reporter that the matter was reported at Athi River Police Station under Occurrence Book (OB) number 13/19/06/2023.

“The son of Ms Kangogo had gone to a local bar where he drank alcohol but failed to pay. It is then that the bar owner decided to take away his phone until he pays the bill. That is what led to the assault case,” said the sleuth who spoke in confidence as they are not authorize to address the media.

Ms Njeri had even obtained an OB following directives from the police but the suspect is yet to be arrested or record statement on what transpired.

A video seen by this reporter, showed how the KPLC boss walked into a bar and assaulted Ms Njeri while her son watched.

Ms Kangogo picked a long stick which she then used to beat Ms Njeri on the head before locals intervened and separated the duo.

The KPLC boss then left the scene alongside her son after they had been handed over the gadget.

Despite the incident which has now caught the attention of the public, Ms Kangogo has been posting photos on her official Facebook page while ignoring the whole matter.

On Monday, June 26, 2023, Ms Kangogo was in the company of President Dr William Ruto in Naivasha where she was watching Safari Rally races.

This has been happening as Ms Njeri goes on seeking for justice hoping that the police will arrest Ms Kangogo and take stern action against her.

Ms Kangogo is not new to controversy, in June 5, 2023, she was suspended by former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko for what was termed as insubordination after she travelled to the United States of America (USA) without informing her boss.

However, after a whole month in the cold, Ms Kangogo was reinstated and given the role of Nairobi Devolution and Public Service Management Executive.

It is worth noting that she also served as the Finance CEC under the leadership of Mr Sonko.
