Social media influencer and businesswoman Yvette Obura has shared intimate details about her upbringing, revealing that she comes from a polygamous family with 11 siblings.

“Growing up in that neighbourhood opened up my mind. I keep telling myself that I need to work extra hard. In as much as Mueni’s dad (Kevin Bahati) is giving her the best, I also need to work hard to give her the best.”

Yvette, the youngest in her family, emphasised how her upbringing in a middle-class environment played a significant role in her personal development.

“My dad is polygamous. We lived in a one-bedroom house. By then, we were like seven people in that one bedroom. All I can say is we had an amazing relationship with even my step-siblings and my parents. We were just a happy household.”

Obura is raising her daughter with her ex-lover, musician Bahati.
Addressing the concept of polygamy and whether she would consider a similar marital arrangement,

Obura said: “No. I can’t share my man. Whenever I get into a relationship, the first instant of cheating, I am usually done.”

She was engaged to a man identified as Trevor Nzomo.

The two split amicably.

“In my next life, I will never publicize who I am dating. I will never want my loved one to feel attacked for no reason,” she told Nairobi News.
