Wanyama’s potential move to Arsenal in danger
By NAIROBI NEWS TEAM
Victor Wanyama’s potential move to Arsenal now hangs in the balance, in the wake of reports in the English media that the Gunners are deep in talks with another African midfielder.
According to the Daily Mail, Arsene Wenger has already sanctioned a Sh500 million move for Egyptian defensive midfielder Mohammed Elneny of Swiss side FC Basel.
Wanyama and Elneny, 23, play in the same position and it is highly unlikely Arsenal will purchase both of them in one transfer window.
NO OFFER YET
According to the newspaper, Elneny has agreed personal terms with Arsenal and undergone a medical ahead of the transfer in January.
The paper adds that Wenger intends to use the skillful North African as cover for a number of his injured stars in central midfield, including Mikel Arteta, Santi Carzola, Jack Wilshere and Francis Coquelin.
Meanwhile, sources close to Wanyama have told Nairobi News that Arsenal have been in close contact with the player’s representatives although no offer has yet been made.
The sources also confirmed that Tottenham remain equally keen on the Harambee Stars captain.
