Jua Cali lashes out at KOT over criticism of album
Kenyan musician Paul Julius Nunda, popularly known as Jua Cali, is not taking the recent online backlash against his new album, “Utu Uzima,” lightly.
A group of Kenyans on Twitter (KOT) dubbed the album a ‘flop’ soon after its release earlier this week.
However, Jua Cali has taken to social media to clear the air and reassure his fans that his music is doing well on all music platforms.
According to him, the album is doing exceptionally well on TikTok, with impressive numbers on Spotify and other streaming platforms.

In a statement addressing the Twitter narrative, Jua Cali advised his fans not to be swayed by the negative comments and emphasized that the music industry’s landscape has changed.
He revealed that his first single, “Wajakoya,” is trending on TikTok and urged his fans to continue supporting his music.

The veteran musician revealed that “Utu Uzima” took him three years to complete and urged his fans to listen to the album on their own without external influence.
“Fans wangu! Don’t be fooled na hawa haters trying to push a certain narrative landscape ya music industry imechange currently my first single ‘WAJAKOYA’ is BIG (Trending) on Tik Tok na Tik Tok sai ndio kusema YouTube is just part of the ecosystem. Fans are listening to the album thru different platforms numbers za UTU UZIMA Spotify, iTunes, Audio Mack, etc. so far ziko sawa,” said Jua Cali.
He also noted that some people already consider it a classic, and he’s grateful for the support.
“I took three good years to record this album. You are supposed to love the music on your own without outside influence. Some people already consider it a classic, so if you have the time, listen to ‘Utu Uzima’ available on all streaming platforms. Thank you, Wagenge,” said Jua Cali.
The veteran musician urges fans to continue supporting his music and ignore any negative narrative online trolls push.
