KARANGI, KIMEMIA OUT AS UHURU REFRESHES CABINET


President Uhuru Kenyatta has appointed Gen Samson Mwathethe the new Chief of the Defence Forces (CDF) following the retirement of long-serving Gen Julius Karangi.

The Head of State also appointed Lt-Gen Joseph Kasaon the Vice CDF while Lt-Gen Leonard M Ngondi becomes the new Kenya Army commander.

President Kenyatta also nominated Eugene Wamalwa the Cabinet Secretary in newly created Ministry of Water and Irrigation Services.

Mr Kenyatta also threw spanner in the works and nominated Amb. Dr Monica Juma Secretary to the position of secretary to the Cabinet, replacing Francis Kimemia who stepped aside a forthnight ago.

Director of Immigration Maj-Gen (Rtd) Gordon Kihalangwa was also nominated as the new PS Interior, replacing Amb. Dr Juma, who will move to the cabinet secretary position.

Mr Kenyatta also poached Nzioka Waita from Safaricom and nominated him as the Secretary of Delivery in the Executive Office of the President.

The changes were tweeted by President’s spokesman Manoah Esipisu.
