Arati, Osoro mediation is a waste of time – Kisii Woman Rep says

The wrangles surrounding the leadership in Kisii County seem to be far from over as some of the leaders hint that not even mediation will work.

As the Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu suggests that he is ready to reconcile Governor Simba Arati, and South Mugirango MP Silvanus Osoro, some of the leaders in the county have come out to express their different views.

According to Kisii County Woman Representative Dorice Donya Aburi, trying to reconcile Governor Arati and Osoro will be a waste of time.

She has instead asked the county leadership to put their differences aside and work for the constituents who voted for them in the last election.

“Any attempt to mediate Governor Arati and the other leaders will be a waste of time. He is a difficult person to work with,” Ms Aburi said.

The MP has also stated that she will not be part of the leaders from the county who would sit at the table for reconciliation with the Governor.

She says that the governor has been brushing off other leaders from the County, including the Senator.

“Ask yourself why many leaders in Kisii County have resigned. Last month, the County Secretary resigned, and three Chief Officers were suspended. Is it that they are not good in their work?

As to how frequently she visited the office of the Governor, Ms Aburi said that she has met Arati in his office twice, and the last meeting was messy as she questioned the Governor on the issue of pending bills.

The first-term MP has also asked the leaders to put aside their political differences and deliver their promises to the people who elected them.

Her sentiments were echoed by Mr Osoro, who claimed that the governor has created enmity with almost all the elected leaders in Kisii County, except a few who have to do what he commands them.

“He has no respect for anyone. He doesn’t respect the elected leaders, he has no respect to his administrators, not respect to his ministers and everybody is bad except him,” Mr Osoro said when he appeared in an interview on local television.

This comes as the police continue to investigate the chaotic incident which was recently witnessed in Kisii, when the supporters of the Governor and South Mogirango MP clashed.

The governor has also been blamed for failing to point out the corrupt individuals in Kisiii County despite of making allegations that corruption is deeply rooted in his county.
