Artistes who changed the face of music
“This party doesn’t stop. It goes on and on…” This is a line from the former Camp Mulla’s song Party Don’t Stop, and we just won’t get enough of it.
The members, Kus Ma, Shappa man, Taio and Miss Karun or ‘Lady, really outdid themselves with the number which also got them into the MTV music charts by bringing a whole new meaning to Kenyan music.
The group was nominated in the 2012 BET Awards in the Best International Act – Africa category, becoming the first Kenyans to ever be nominated for a BET award.
“It was great while we were together but it is time we focused on individual projects. Personally, I first want to go to college and get my degree, but I will still be doing music, this is not the end,” said Karun before she left for California. Kus Ma has been the busiest of them all releasing songs from time to time.
Rap fans were also not left out as they were enthralled by the new kids on the block such as Octopizzo, Kaka Sungura/Rabbit, Kristoff and Khaligraph.
These new music sensations are definitely bringing their A-game to their fans as well as getting recognition beyond the borders.
With Lupita Nyong’o setting the pace, we cannot help but dream of more Oscars or awards since “no matter where we are, our dreams are valid”.
