City cops asked to probe forgery of CJ Maraga’s signature
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations has been asked to investigate the forgery of Chief Justice David Maraga’s signature.
Judiciary Registrar Anne Amadi, in a letter to the Nairobi Central criminal investigations chief, also cites letters circulating on social media, purporting to be from the office of Justice Maraga.
“The forged letters are presented on stationery that resembles that of the Judiciary, giving members of the public the impression that the material in question is official communication from the Office of the Chief Justice,” Ms Amadi said in the letter dated April 13.
She also raised concerns about the increasing number of fake and libelous stories regarding judges that were circulating on social media.
“Some of them contain untrue allegations that are critically injurious to the reputation of the judges,” Ms Amandi said.
Nairobi Central criminal investigations boss Samuel Kobina, when contacted, told the Nation that he was yet to receive the Judiciary’s letter, but promised to act on it in accordance with the law.
