Coach who wanted Leopards job tops Portuguese polls

A Portuguese coach who was once linked to AFC Leopards has been named as one of the best coaches in his country by a local magazine.

The Visao, a monthly magazine produced in Benfica, has ranked Vitor Salvado amongst the leading football coaches in the country.

The magazine poll was conducted through a voting system that took into account the trainers’ capabilities, experience gained within and outside Portugal as well as results.

Apart from Salvado, other coaches were ranked in the magazine poll include current Chelsea trainer Jose Mourinho.

“I hope this report will put to rest the several assaults on my person, career and qualifications,” the former Benfica ‘C’ trainer, who has also handled a couple of youth teams and Academies in West Africa told Nairobi News.

Salvado was primed to join AFC Leopards two seasons ago, but his appointment was nipped in the bud amid reports there was an “anomaly” on his CV and paperwork, with the Kenyan club officials at the time insinuating he was “qualified” for the job.
