Did Nairobi ladies send themselves flowers on Valentine?
Maina Kageni has sensationally claimed some women in Nairobi sent flowers to themselves on Valentine Day.
The famed radio presenter made the claim on his show.
“I have a friend who sells flowers,” he explained.
“And he tells me most of the orders he received yesterday (for Valentines) were for women sending to themselves. It looks like the pressure out here to be loved is so high.”
Monday, February 14 is celebrated as Valentine Day around the world with many lovers seen publicly sharing gifts and flowers with their loved ones.
The Valentine’s Day tradition can be traced back to a Roman fertility festival known as Lupercalia. Pope Gelasius picked the period of Lupercalia celebrations as the day to remember Saint Valentine towards the end of the 5th century, resulting in the association of Valentine’s Day with love and romance.
