How Mugiithi artist Kareh B plans to remember fallen son

Mugiithi artist Mary Wangari Gioche, alias Kareh B continues to mourn the loss of her eldest son, Joseph Mwadulo.

Mwadulo tragically passed away on April 1, 2024, following an accident involving the bus transporting students from Chavakali High School at Mamboleo Junction in Kisumu County.

Despite her grief, the mother of two has hinted at her return to music after taking a break.

She expressed that music serves as her therapy, revitalizing her spirit and providing solace during these challenging times.

“Music is my therapy… I feel nourished, renewed, rejuvenated, like my strength is restored. It’s healing… I cannot go without singing… otherwise, I will go mad. See you sooner than later, as I sing!” she wrote.

Mwadulo was laid to rest at Karwagi Village, Embu County.

In her tribute, Kareh B pledged to establish a foundation in her son’s honour.

“I would like to start a foundation to keep his (my son’s) legacy. It is going to be all about the youths’ emotional health, mental health, physical health, and everything about youths… the youth are our future leaders and we have to take care of their mental health,” the grieving mother said.

In his tribute, Joe’s father, Moris Mwadulo, reflected on the efforts he made to provide for his deceased son.

“Many a time we have been with Joe… We have to accept the will of the Lord… I did my best, Joe, and one thing I respect you, Joe, is you never stopped calling me daddy. You were my only son and the only one who called me daddy,” he said.

Joe’s friends and schoolmates also paid their glowing tributes.

Joe’s basketball coach also presented Kareh B with a jersey in his memory.

“When I took him to be a player, I recognised his potential for shooting. He was voted as the best player. All the coaches loved him. He used to accept correction. That was one thing I loved about Joe,” the school team coach said.
