Evelyn Wanjiru commends husband for 10-year wait for child
Renowned gospel singer Evelyn Wanjiru has lauded her spouse, Agunda, for standing by her side during their decade-long journey to conceive.
Speaking exclusively to Mkenya Marekani TV, a YouTube channel, the songstress expressed her gratitude to her husband for his patience and dedication throughout their fertility struggles.
“He had the liberty to leave, I was the problem. I had issues with my menstrual cycle, and it took time to regulate that, but he walked the journey with me,” she disclosed, reflecting on the challenging path they traversed together.
Wanjiru confessed her fear of potentially losing her husband due to their infertility struggles, emphasizing the emotional toll it could have taken on her.
“It was going to shake me big time,” she admitted, acknowledging the pressure she felt from societal expectations to expand their family.
The celebrated singer, who recently marked her son’s birthday on April 6th, which coincides with their anniversary, reflected on the faithfulness of God throughout their wait for parenthood.
“We celebrate that together because it’s been the faithfulness of God. Waiting has not been easy. Ten years of waiting in marriage for the fruit of the womb,” she shared, emphasizing the profound journey they’ve experienced together.
Despite the societal pressure to conceive, Wanjiru praised her husband’s steadfastness, highlighting his commitment to their marriage.
“In my heart, sincerely, I was feeling scared. You know, it’s been 10 years. People are questioning, ‘What’s happening? Why haven’t you given him a child?’ I was really scared, but I couldn’t express it to him,” she confessed.
During another heartfelt conversation with The Murayas, the Agundas discussed coping strategies, including purchasing children’s clothing during their travels abroad.
This was before the birth of their first child in 2022.
“We started buying baby clothes when we were only 4 years into marriageā¦ walking by faith. We even made the room for our baby, and it stayed for 5 years without a baby,” she said.
