Ex-Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko meets woman with his Tattoo

Former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko made headlines today after meeting Mary Njoki, a Murang’a based woman who’s tattooed his face on her thigh.

The single mother from Murang’a went online seeking help from the flashy politician.

She showed off a detailed tattoo of his face on her thigh, asking for assistance.

“Hi Mike Sonko. Habari yako? I’m Mary Njoki from Murang’a. Mimi ndio nilichora tattoo, na ndio hii hapa kwa mguu. Napitia shida mingi sana, naomba tu unisaidie…”Niko na watoto wanafaa kukula. Sina watu wetu. Naomba tu unipee hata kama ni kazi…” she said appealed.

In a statement shared on social media platform X, Sonko engaged in a conversation with Ms. Njoki, discussing various matters, including her concerns, educational background, family, and plans.

During their meeting, Ms. Njoki revealed that she had only completed primary education and expressed her desire to open a clothing store in Murang’a town. She stated that she needed approximately Sh 200,000 to start the business.

Sonko, showing his willingness to assist, advised Ms. Njoki to establish the clothing store first and offered to support her by paying for the shop’s rent for the first six months and covering the initial stock expenses.

“First, get that shop, then let our people see it. Let them see the shop, let us pay for the first six months. We must know where you are buying stock; we will pay for it. There is no money here, no cash given to you. Honestly, we don’t operate that way; if you want that money, forget it. We don’t give out money,” Sonko said.

Furthermore, Sonko cautioned Ms. Njoki about rushing into having more children without achieving financial stability. He also offered her a temporary job in his office while they explored long-term solutions.

Despite their conversation, Ms. Njoki expressed her reluctance to remove the tattoo of Sonko’s face from her thigh, indicating that it holds sentimental value for her.

This isn’t the first instance.

Back in August 2023, another woman named Maryanne Njoki got a tattoo of Sonko’s face on her thigh.

In response to her gesture, Sonko said, “I appreciate your unwavering support and love, but I’d prefer you without tattoos. Your body belongs to you, your Creator, and God.”
