Exclusive: Anastacia on why her 19-year marriage with ex Mukabwa failed

Renowned gospel singer Anastacia Kakii has revealed the heartbreaking details of her decision to end her 19-year marriage with her first husband, Mukabwa.

The gospel star, known for her powerful voice and inspirational music, shared that despite the long years invested in the relationship, circumstances led her to make the difficult choice to walk away.

Anastacia acknowledged that she tied the knot with Mukabwa at a very young age, though she chose not to disclose the exact number.

“My first marriage crumbled after 19 years. I later met my current husband after nine years. I got married to my first husband when I was very young. I don’t want to say the age,” she said.

Reflecting on the reasons for the marriage’s demise, she expressed that while she couldn’t blame anyone for the failure, getting married at such a young age played a significant role in the breakdown.

The ‘Watangoja Sana” hitmaker attributed her early marriage to the harsh realities of life and poverty.

“I was a street girl then in Kongowea. I lived in people’s houses, I was mistreated and I did not find love and that is how I got married,” she said.

The lack of love in her life during those challenging times ultimately pushed her into a marriage that she did not fully comprehend.

“I got married when I did not even know I was getting married. Life and poverty contributed to me getting married. I am here not to dwell so much on my past but to encourage someone that there is a God of second chance,” she shared.

When asked about the advice she would offer to those going through a divorce, Anastacia emphasized that no one desires to experience the end of a marriage.

She spoke about the emotional and material investment she made in her first marriage, including acquiring substantial properties.

Despite the challenges, she encouraged people facing similar situations to consider the well-being of their children and to prioritize life over destructive relationships.

“No one loves being divorced. I had fully invested in that marriage. Where do you think I was going? But remember, there are circumstances that force someone to quit marriage. Instead of killing each other, you decide to just quit. If it is not working, walk out. People will talk, but you will remain a victor since your children will have both parents alive. It is not the end of your life,” Anastacia advised.

Anastacia is currently married to Maurice Juma.
