EXCLUSIVE: TV Host Tracy Wanjiru on keeping pregnancy private, NTV return with ‘The Glam’
Popular media personality Tracy Wanjiru surprised her fans when she revealed she had become a mother in August 2023, keeping her pregnancy secret for two years.
The former Teen Republic host exclusively told Nairobi News her decision to keep her pregnancy private came naturally as she does not parade her private life on social media.
“I have always been a very private person, and so keeping my pregnancy private came very naturally to me. Bringing a new life into the world is something very sensitive, and I wanted it handled with a lot of sensitivity and protection. I believe not everything needs to be shared on the internet. You don’t have to share everything. You need to know what should be kept private.”
Now, Tracy Wanjiru is making a comeback on NTV with a beauty and wellness TV show called ‘The Glam.’
After her two-year hiatus, she promises her fans an exciting show that will help them appreciate themselves.
“The beauty show is called ‘The Glam,’ where your beauty is cherished, your wellness is prioritized, and your heart is treasured.
We will be discussing beauty, skincare, wellness, and fashion. It will be airing every Saturday at 8 p.m. on NTV. We want to make sure everyone feels good physically, mentally, and emotionally about themselves so that they can always look their best. Our viewers can ask any questions about wellness and beauty.”
When asked about why she chose to host a beauty show, Tracy responded:
“It is something I have always wanted to do because it touches on things I have always wanted to talk about. Feeling good from the inside is why wellness is huge for us.”
Reflecting on her long break, Tracy explained that she took the break because she wanted to focus on motherhood as a full-time job.
“It was hard to handle both work and motherhood. The break taught me a lot of things, and the beauty of being in that space is that I was able to introspect a lot, look at things that I could do better, find a way to perfect things and boost my confidence both on and off-camera,” she said.
Tracy Wanjiru also shared her beauty role models:
“I love Rihanna for her inclusive products. Kim Kardashian is unapologetic in her moves, which I admire. In Kenya, I look up to Joy Kendi for her consistency in the beauty world.”
What can viewers expect from ‘The Glam’?
“The show is going to be a mix of discussions, but we have primarily focused on beauty and skincare products. We have even tested these products so our fans can try them out when they watch, making it more practical than theoretical.”
When asked if she had ever struggled with health or skincare, Tracy revealed:
“My skin started breaking out during pregnancy, and I had pimples. My biggest issue has always been how I view myself. I have struggled with self-image and self-confidence, but I am continually working on these aspects.”
