Former Uganda Vice President Gilbert Bukenya is facing a court case for allegedly snatching his former political mobilizer’s wife.

According to reports in the Ugandan media, Emmanuel Nyabayango has accused his former boss Bukenya of having a relationship and even fathering a child with his wife Margaret Kabasinguzi. Nyabayango says these actions are “unconstitutional, barbaric, inhuman and unlawful.”

Interestingly, the two parties were given time to solve the dispute mutually but Bukenya and Margaret both skipped the session that was meant to take place before High Court Family division court registrar a month ago.

CAMPAIGN AGENT

Nyabayango also claims Bukenya paid him Sh110m (about Sh4 million) after the allegations went viral on social media. Nyabayango has said he will line up over ten witnesses to testify against Bukenya when the hearing starts.

On his part, Bukenya agrees that Kabasinguzi was his campaign agent and all interactions with her were strictly related to his political campaign.

The former VP also agrees that there were times when he gave unspecified amounts of money to Kabasinguzi but this was in “consideration for her services rendered as campaign agent/mobiliser”.
