Fuel crisis: Nelson Havi tells Kenyans to buy bicycles
Prominent Kenyan lawyer Nelson Havi has advised Kenyans to buy and use bicycles in a bid to end the ongoing fuel crisis in the country.
Fuel has become a rare commodity in Kenya for the past two weeks with motorists required to queue for long hours to access the product.
Havi in his tweet argued that the use of bicycles will greatly impact the price of fuel in the country and force the dealers to consider the interests of their clients.
“What if all of us bought bicycles and rode to work or school in Nairobi?” he posed in a Tweet.
“The caprice of oil marketers will end. Traffick nightmares will be a forgotten past. Carbon pollution will be reduced. Importantly, we will be effortlessly fit and healthy. I am buying mine today. Are you?”
Havi who until recently served as the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) president didn’t appear to have convinced Kenyans with his analogy as translated in their comments.

There's a theory that says: Cyclists are a danger to the economy. Why? Because they don't purchase fuel neither do they pay fare meaning they don't pay tax used to settle the debts acquired to construct the road.

Havi, who is eyeing the Westlands constituency seat in the August 2022 polls has been on the forefront of dishing out legal advice to Kenyans on his social media platform.
He recently threatened to sue Safaricom if the telecommunications firm threatened to disconnect his Sim card owing to failure to re-register.
“You have my ID Card with which the SIM Card was registered. I will take legal action against you, should my line be disconnected,” Havi responded.
He also appealed to Kenyans not to allow being charged for the registration exercise. The lawyer termed the exercise as illegal and unnecessary saying nobody deserves to pay anything for the service.
His comments on fuel come on the day the Energy and Regulatory Commission increased the price of fuel by Sh10.
