Gospel singer Mary Lincoln’s baptism video sparks online controversy

Popular gospel singer Mary Lincoln has made headlines once again, but this time it’s not for her melodious voice or uplifting performances.

A video of Lincoln being baptized has been making the rounds on social media, causing quite a stir among her fans and followers.

The video, which has garnered thousands of views, shows Mary Lincoln dressed in a black short-sleeved dress, with a leso tied around her waist.

She is guided by a pastor towards what appears to be murky water, reminiscent of a dam.

As the ceremony unfolds, the pastor can be heard sharing his intentions to revive her ministry through this act.

“All the struggles you have gone through, all the battles you have fought, I am today delivering you to angels in this river as a way to cleanse all your sins,” proclaims the pastor.

“When you attempt to sing, let your songs have a taste. I am calling on an angel for a new life. The servant you are becoming, I am baptizing you today.”

While some fans expressed their support and admiration for Mary Lincoln’s commitment to her faith, others voiced their concerns and skepticism about the video.

One fan, identified as Wah Ngechi, respectfully disagreed with the pastor’s approach, stating:

“Baptism does not wash away sins; only the blood of Christ does, and it did so once and for all.” Ngechi emphasized the importance of the foundational teachings of Christianity.

Another fan, Josphine612, defended Mary Lincoln, urging others to get to know her beyond mere speculation.

“She is my church mate, and I wish you could know her apart from hearing stories. She is good,” Josphine612 stated.

Elisabethwaitotia chimed in, asserting that true repentance involves a change of mind and heart rather than merely participating in a ceremonial act.

“Repenting is a change of mind, not swimming in water,” she commented.

South Kinangop queen, encouraged Mary Lincoln, stating:

“Deputy Jesus is still judging. Mary, you are blessed. Continue shining in your ministry.”

However, not all comments were positive.

User TheRestoredPrincess expressed concern about Mary Lincoln’s personal life, hoping that she is now preserving herself for marriage.

Some fans questioned the location of the baptism, with user Caroline Njeri446 wondering why they didn’t find a cleaner river for the ceremony.

“Kwani alisema anataka baptism wakakimbia to the nearest river; the water is so dirty,” Caroline Njeri446 inquired.

Others, like Releen.m and Faykaris, acknowledged the dirtiness of the water, expressing their hope that Mary Lincoln’s faith and calling would remain strong despite the circumstances.

In November, 2022, the gospel star Mary Lincoln again visited a church in Kiambu County after her naughty photos were splashed online.
