Cheers and jeers as JKIA becomes 24 hour free Wi-Fi zone
The introduction of free internet for 24 hours at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) has received plaudits and criticism in equal measure from Kenyans.
Kenya Airports Authority made the announcement on Wednesday via social media, putting JKIA in the same league with other major airports in the continent, including O. R. Tambo International Airport in South Africa and Kigali International Airport in Rwanda, which provide free WiFi.
Jambo, we’ve got some GOOD NEWS for you this evening! JKIA is now a 24HR FREE WIFI ZONE! pic.twitter.com/lIJNBIz5cz

The announcement comes months before the launch of direct flights between Kenya and the USA, a development that analysts believe will improve Kenya’s accessibility to the world market.
However, on social media, the announcement was greeted with cheers and jeers.
Good stuff. Now build a new terminal

Come on guys….lol don’t embarrass us to the whole world like that….leave it to the politicians….free WiFi really ??♂️

To be fair to them tho not many airports have 24hr free WiFi (which is a big deal if you have a long ass connecting flight and have nothing to do). The Dubai airport only has it for 2hours, Frankfurt 8, DC none…

Guys, you’ve really upped the game at JKIA. Was there yesterday and for a project still ongoing, kudos guys. From the messy parking to well lit, secure, with efficient staff all over….?????
