Jobless man who asked for a job from Transport CS Murkomen gets his wish

A man who recently went viral on social media after he asked Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen to give him a job has finally landed one.

Elphas Busisa, who hails from Vihiga County, confirmed landing a job as a driver at the Kenya National Highways Authority (Kenha) project office in Nakuru after many years of seeking employment.

“I have worked on and off since 1996. But when Covid hit in 2020, I lost my job and I have been struggling to put food on the table for my family,” Mr  Busisa said.

Mr Busisa also narrated how he had gone to the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) offices to run some errands when he saw the CS and took his chance, which has paid off.

Mr Busisa went viral on social media after a video of him asking Mr Murkomen for a job elicited mixed reactions among Kenyans.

It was during the interaction with Kenyans seeking services at the NTSA office that Mr Busisa got an opportunity to greet Mr Murkomen and make his request.

He said the CS later dispatched some of his aides to process his job ‘application’.

“When the CS was leaving he come and greeted us and he asked me what my problem was and I told him I was jobless. But he responded by saying that they are not employing. To my surprise, his people later approached me,” Mr Busisa said.

The newly employed Kenha driver expressed gratitude for the appointment, saying he will now be able to cater for his family’s needs.

A source told Nairobi News that Mr Busisa is not the only person that Mr Murkomen has helped in one way or another.

“He (Murkomen) doesn’t do things to please the public. There are many people he helps but we don’t go shouting about it. He very compassionate,” the source said.
