Kenyan striker John Makwata kicks off Kuwait trade in fashion
Kenyan international striker John Mark Makwata completed his move to Kuwait Premier League side Al-Nasr Sports Club scoring on his debut in a 3-0 win over Al Fahaheel at Al Farwaniyah Stadium on Monday.
Makwata joined the side on a one year contract from Zambian outfit Buildcon last week.
The former City Stars and Ulinzi Stars forward doubled the scores in the 85th minute after Zabin Al Enezi had broken the deadlock in the 69th minute.
Youssef Al Rasheedi put the scores beyond Fahaheel reach with a third goal two minutes to the final whistle as Al-Nasr kicked off the 2017/18 season on a high.
“I am happy for the new challenge and look forward to the new responsibility ahead, more so, I thank God for scoring on my debut, hope more will come,” Makwata, who bagged the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) Golden Boot in 2016, told Nairobi News.
Al-Nasr, who finished third last season, next visit Al Qadsia in the second match of the season on Friday.
Al-Nasr, founded 53 years ago, is based in Ardiyah and has participated in the 10-team Kuwait Premier League 26 times.
Capped nine times for Harambee Stars, Makwata becomes the first Kenyan international to trade in the Persian Gulf in recent times.
