Kenya’s Phy bags 1.2million in Maisha Superstar
Kenya once again proved its prowess in music across the East African region when its contestant emerged top in the just concluded Maisha Superstar competition.
Phyllis Mwihaki Ng’etich aka Phy became the new Maisha Superstar after flooring Uganda’s Spirit Soul, Tanzania’s Damian Soul and Kenya’s Philip Tuju aka Filah in the music competition.
The show that started 13 weeks ago and had brought together East Africa’s best artists who mentored the contestants came to a close Monday.
Phy was under Rabbit’s mentorship and during the grand finale the two artists performed “Ligi Soo.”

Uganda’s Spirit Soul had been under Chameleone’s mentorship all through the show and during the last episode they performed “Valu Valu.”
Tanzania’s Damian was being mentored by musician AY throughout the show while Kenya’s second contestant in the finale Mr Filah was under Nameless’ mentorship.
The last episode saw some big names in the music industry attend among them musicians Wyre, Nazizi, Eric Wainaina, Nameless, Habida Uganda’s Maurice Kirya and Tanzania’s Shaa.
Maisha Superstar, which aired on Maisha Magic Channel 161, was a reality show that was in its first season which started with six big East African acts taking contestants through auditions and eliminating them to remain with one mentee each.
The show’s contestants were referred to as rookies throughout the period and the number went down from six finalists to the ultimate super star crowned on Monday.
