How Koroga Festival went down with Malian top act Salif Keita – PHOTOS
After taking a short hiatus, Koroga Festival was back over the weekend at a new location and it redeemed itself with a sold out crowd.
The event which took place at the Uhuru Gardens and saw thousands show up for a legendary show headlined by Malian royalty Salif Keita.
Known as the “Golden Voice of Africa”, Keita’s stage performance was special as he is set to retire soon after 50 years of entertaining the world.

He recently released his swansong, Un Autre Blanc which he says celebrates who he is, following a life of tribulations.
He performed some of his favourite tracks including, Africa and Yamore much to the delight of the audience.
He was also joined on stage by Nominated Senator Isaac Mwaura and several other people who were born with an absence of skin and hair pigmentation.
Opening the event were Mabo Tribe Band before Naija afrobeats star Skales, who both stunned the crowd with an engaging performance that had the audience on its feet.
SURPRISE PERFORMANCE
P Square’s Rude Boy made a surprise performance for the first time on the Koroga Festival stage. The Nigerian artiste sang some of his most popular tracks including Do Me and Temptation.
Meanwhile, Susan Wong, who has been one of the team members behind the event since its inception, also said her adios.
“What a ride! 24 Editions of Koroga Festival later, this is finally one of my last! Honestly, I’ve been super blessed and honoured to photograph every artist that has performed on this stage and interacted with them during their stay in Nairobi,” Wong said.
She said it was a culmination of many career defining moments for both herself and the artistes.
