Linda Ogutu reacts after missing out on CAS appointment

TV girl Linda Ogutu has shared her reactions after failing to earn an appointment as a Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS).

Ogutu’s name was missing from 50 nominees released by President William Ruto on March 16, 2022, with a majority of the beneficiaries consisting of the Head of State’s loyalists and poll losers.

The renowned TV journalist made a banter in reaction to missing out using Kenyan catchphrases that dominate when one is left dry. She tweeted, “Ni kama pale CAS kimeumana. Wacha nioge nirudi soko. Tumeni sabuni mbio mbio mapema ndio best.”

Ogutu made her name as the eloquent and ever-smiling news reader on NTV and Kenya Television Network (KTN).

She made it among the 250 shortlisted applicants for the CAS job from a pool of 4000 applicants and went on to face the Public Service Commission (PSC) interview panel.

“Mkiamka kesho mtapatana na hii list. Naomba tupendane kama Wakenya. Tafadhali naomba muamke, mkunywe chai na mniombee. Maisha ni kuombeana please,” she tweeted.

In May 2022, Former Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed appointed Ms Ogutu the head of the secretariat at the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) caretaker committee.

Alongside 27 other members, Ms Ogutu’s role was to oversee the management of football in the country following the disbandment of the Football Kenya Federation (FKF).

When her six months term elapsed, she said it was an honour to have served at FKF, adding it wasn’t an easy experience. “It has been a great honour to serve on the FKF caretaker/Transition committee for close to a year.

We are done. Wasn’t easy but an experience I wouldn’t change for anything. Great lessons,” she said.

According to PSC, the CAS posts attracted a total of 4,000 applicants and will see all 240 candidates fighting for only available 22 CAS slots.
