M-Net spends over sh100m on EA movies
South Africa-based TV powerhouse M-Net, has spent more than Sh100 million to produce 56 movies in East Africa.
An official at its Nairobi office said about $1.5 million has been invested in the project, Africa Magic Original Films, all produced in East Africa.
Some of the movies are already showing on DStv’s Africa Magic channel.
The movies have created jobs for actors, producers and script writers from the region.
“These are some of the projects that will make this industry grow tremendously and we are happy to be involved,” said Tosh Gitonga, a movie director credited for the successful movie, Nairobi Half Life.
