Man arrested on suspicion of drugging, raping varsity student

A man is in police custody on suspicion of being linked to the drugging and rape of a University of Nairobi law student.

The student was on Wednesday found found unconscious in a thicket near Mangu High School after surviving the ordeal.

According to police report, the suspect committed the crime in collusion with two accomplices who are still at large.

The first year student was reportedly drugged and abducted at the Kenya National Archives building within Nairobi’s CBD.

She was later found unconscious in a thicket in Waitethie area near Mangu along Thika Road by members of the public.

FOUND DEAD

The student was taken to the Nairobi Women hospital where she was treated and discharged.

Police took samples of her blood to try and identify the drug which her abductors used.

In Naivasha, a 23-year-old man was found dead on Wednesday in Mai Mahiu village, hours after being swindled more than Sh300,000 by his friends.

The body of the sand trader was found hanging inside his house by residents who suspect he committed suicide.

According to the locals, the man had been saving money to buy land but lost the cash to his friends.

Police said they were investigating the link between the man’s death and claims that he was conned.
