Man in court for beating up his friend over 300 bob debt
A man who allegedly roughed up and injured his friend after he was asked to pay a Sh300 debt has been charged with assaulting and causing bodily injuries.
Augustine Tianda has been accused of beating up and inflicting injuries to Silas Kegode in Lindi area of Kibera sub county, Nairobi on May 19, 2022.
Kegode was at a neighbour’s house when he met Tianda. The two knew each other as they had been workmates and Kegonde had extended a loan of Sh300 to Tianda.
He asked Tianda to pay the debt but instead, Tianda became violent and allegedly started a fight.
The suspect is said to have wrestled the complainant to the ground and beat him thoroughly before neighbours heard the commotion and intervened to rescue Kegode.
The accused denied the charges before Senior Resident Magistrate Charles Mwaniki Kamau at the Kibera Law Courts.
He was granted a surety bond of Sh50,000 and an alternative cash bail of Sh20,000. The case will be mentioned on June 30, 2022.
