A 31-year-old man over the weekend killed his elder brother after the deceased found him in a compromising situation with their younger sister.

In an incident that has left residents of Chema village in Baricho, Kirinyaga County, the two brothers differed after they realised that they were sharing the 17-year-old girl.

Mr Benard Njere allegedly ended the life of his brother Mr Samuel Irungu, 37, in cold blood during a confrontation over why he was sleeping with the sister.

“The deceased also had a love affair with the 17-year-old and could not come to terms with what he had witnessed. He descended on his brother with fury, prompting a fierce fight that led to his demise,” the police said in a report.

The father of the deceased then reported the matter to the police after Mr Irungu passed on. He told detectives attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) that his son died while undergoing treatment at Karatina Sub-County Hospital.

It is then that sleuths visited the homestead and discovered that the deceased had also in 2021 impregnated the minor but she experienced a stillbirth in March, 2022.

Nine months later, the minor had also started having an affair with the younger brother behind the back of the elder sibling.

The suspect was arrested on December 3, 2022 over the incident which is reported to have occurred when the daughter, 10, was admitted at the Navakholo Hospital in Kakamega County.
