Man who assaulted his ailing father with stones pleads guilty in court

A middle-aged man who pelted his ailing father with stones while threatening and insulting him for being disabled has pleaded guilty to charges of creating a disturbance in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace contrary to section 95 (1) (b) of the Penal Code.

Ramadhan Idris was charged with threatening his 50-year-old Idris Hama who is sick and living with disability at his house on August 11, 2023 at Matopeni area in Njiru Sub County, Nairobi County.

The accused pleaded guilty to the charges when he was arraigned before Senior Principal Magistrate Mary Njagi of the Makadara Law Courts in Nairobi.

On the day of the incident, Mr Idris went to his father’s house while drunk and started throwing projectiles at his father before neighbours intervened and rescued the complainant. The accused also threw his father’s utensils out.

He later left the house and his father reported the matter to police. Police officers visited the scene and later recorded witness statements, leading to the arrest of the accused.

During the investigations, Mr Hama told the police that his son, who is a boda boda rider in the area, has denied him peace for a long time.

But Ms Njagi encouraged the accused to settle the matter out of court with his father before the case returns to court.
