Massive traffic snarl up as protesters block Mombasa Road – PHOTOS
Youths blocked both sides of Mombasa Road at Mlolongo area on Wednesday morning to protest the delayed response of Machakos County fire fighters to put out a huge fire.
The fire that broke out in a makeshift structure saw numerous properties destroyed. It took the intervention of Nairobi County fire brigade to put out the fire.
Nairobi County Disaster Management official Joseph Githoro said they responded to the distress call despite Mavoko constituency being beyond their operational jurisdiction.
“When there is fire and we can access it then we do give our services. Fire broke out in Mavoko but we arrived before those of Machakos County,” he told Nairobi News.
