‘May he be hated by men, God…’ Kiambu Women Rep curses Jeff Mwathi’s killer

Kiambu women’s representative Anne WaMuratha has encouraged the mother of the late Geoffrey Mwathi, Hannah Wachuka, to remain strong in the Lord as He will deliver justice.

This comes after the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) announced that the death of the late 23-year-old was still inconclusive with possible suicide being the strongest explanation as none of the suspects who recorded statements could be implicated in his death.

WaMuratha suggested that the late Jeff had been denied justice by the DCI and the government at large, but that there was a God in heaven.

Speaking in the vernacular, he said: “A person who spills another person’s blood because he knows that if the person is alive, he will curtail his efforts should know that our God is very vengeful. He will take revenge not only on you as the perpetrator, but also on the fourth generation”.

She added: “The one who killed Jeff because the government failed to deliver justice, may he be hated by God, men and even the earth so much that when he steps on it, God will question him. This child died a very painful death”.

On 22 February 2023, 23-year-old Mwathi lost his life after allegedly falling from the Mugithi singer’s 12th floor Redwood Apartments home in the Kasarani area.

DJ Fatxo is now a person of interest in the case.

Mwathi had been with the singer before they went to his home at Redwoods Apartments. The singer’s cousin and driver were also present at the house along with two women. Officials say Mwathi had met the singer hours earlier for an interior design job and had been promised a deposit to start work that morning.

An initial report filed at Kasarani police station on 22 February said an unidentified man had taken his own life by jumping from the building.

Detectives close to the matter said police were called and told that a man had committed suicide. However, the suicide theory has since been dismissed by Mwathi’s family, who claim he may have been pushed or killed before being thrown out of the flat.
