Murdered LGBTQ activist Edwin Chiloba and the dog he ‘fathered’ with male lover


Mr Edwin Chiloba, the LGBTQ activist and model who was found murdered in Uasin Gishu County, and his male lover were parents to a dog, that even has an account on Instagram, Nairobi News can now reveal.

The male lover is reported to have been Mr Chiloba’s closest friend. Mr Chiloba was last seen alive dancing with his friends, including his male lover, at a popular club in Eldoret on New Year’s eve.

The dog’s Instagram account profile, which tags Mr Chiloba and the said male lover, reads: “I am a Japanese-spitz & human friendly.”

In several photos posted on the account, Mr Chiloba is seen carrying the snow-white dog. Other pictures on the account have captions indicating that Chiloba is the dog’s father.

One post that captures the Chiloba and his pet that goes by the name Littymous is captioned: “Having a good time with my daddy 😍 @its_edwinchiloba,” while yet another post with pictures of the dog has the caption: “Hello friday😍 we are outside with my dad @its_edwinchiloba”

The said male lover, who was arrested on Friday on suspicion of having a part in Chiloba’s killing, is a 24-year-old Nairobi-based freelance photographer. He currently being held at Langas Police Station in Eldoret.

The suspect was arrested after detectives were informed by a caretaker that he had been spotted with the same metal box in which the decomposing body was found.

Nairobi News has also established that Mr Chiloba was all smiles and having fun on December 31, 2022, with his male lover and another man whose identity is yet to be established at Tamasha Club.

The caretaker told the police that after Mr Chiloba went missing, the suspect, who is currently in police custody, used Chiloba’s phone for communication and mobile money transactions.

As per the caretaker’s account, Mr Chiloba had been a tenant at the residence for about three years with his friend joining him about a year ago. It has also emerged that the two had issues and fought on several occasions.
