Detectives managed to secure a cache of evidence, including the bags of marijuana, four cartons containing rolling materials, and 173 pieces of a substance believed to be blended drugs or bhang.

A sizable recovery of 42 cartons, each containing 200 cigarettes, was also made.

DCI boss Mohamed Amin said the money hidden under the mattress in one of the rooms would be treated as proceeds of the crime.

The raid was carried out by a team of officers from the Transnational Organised Crime Unit who raided the house in Ngara, which a known drug trafficker owns.

According to the police, the sacks had arrived in the city from the western part of the country when police staged the raid.

The recovery comes a month after seven suspected drug traffickers, among them two foreigners, were found with narcotics worth Sh121 million in the same area.

According to police, five Kenyans, an Indian and a Pakistani were found with 24 kilos of cocaine and 1,200 kilos of ketamine.

The suspects were arrested by anti-narcotics detectives who were acting on intelligence reports.

During the raid, along Wangari Maathai road, a Nissan X-trail was intercepted ferrying 23 cartons containing a whitish substance.

“The vehicle with two occupants was headed to the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport carrying approximately 23 cartons containing compressed packages of whitish powdery substances labelled ‘Boss Head’, suspected to be narcotic drugs,” the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) stated in an X (formally Twitter) post.

Those arrested included Muhammed Salem Mohamed Hussein a Pakistan national, and Khan Mohamed Ashraf Changu an Indian National.

Others were Wesley Silvanus Adwenya, Paul Kivuli Sote, Railings Innocent Ogondi, Moses Liyai Imbwanga and Latif Mohamed Dawood.
