Nation Sports Editor Elias Makori’s mother passes on
Nation Media Group Sports Editor Elias Makori has lost his mother, Mama Lucy Kemunto Obanyi.
In a message on his Facebook page, the veteran sports journalist said his mother passed away on Thursday, January 5, 2023 at the Bosongo Hospital in Kisii County where she had been admitted.
Mr Makori said his mother’s ailment had subjected to a lot of pain in recent years. According to the family Mama Obanyi, ied while she was in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

“We wish to thank the medical teams, the clergy, family members, relatives, friends and all of you who have been with us in thoughts and prayer during our mum’s medical journey. It is God’s will and we thank Him for our loving mum’s life,” Mr Makori said, adding that more information on the funeral arrangements will be shared soon.
Mr Makori thanked all the people who have supported the family all through and especially when his mother was ailing.

On Wednesday, January 4, 2022, Mr Makori in another update on his mother’s health described her as a one of the most willed, God-fearing human beings ever.
“She’s been through so much illness and pain over the last few years and always pulled through, and even cracked jokes about her ordeals with the doctors and nurses,” part of Makori’s post read.
