Nyenze: Kamba Nation got a raw deal in Nasa – VIDEO
Minority leader Francis Nyenze has stated that the Kamba people got a raw deal in the new opposition line-up that was unveiled on Thursday.
The legislator said the Kamba people expected Kalonzo Musyoka to fly the National Super Alliance (Nasa) flag but were disappointed by the unveiling of Raila Odinga as the flag bearer.
“I want to say that in my own opinion the Kamba Nation got a raw deal because now there was a MoU in 2013 that Honorable Kalonzo Musyoka, the entire Ukambani support Raila, and we did that. In 2017 it was to be Kalonzo Musyoka but through fair negotiations and I was a leading negotiator. The committee that was tasked with selecting the flag bearer could not reach consensus,” said Nzenze.
PLAY SECOND FIDDLE
The legislator added that it was after the committee’s failure to come to an agreement that the principals took it upon themselves to reach a consensus.
“The four principals, now five principals, met and made that decision. It will be a very difficult task to convince the Kamba Nation to play second fiddle when they played that in 2013 and in 2017 they expected their son to be the flag bearer,” said Nyenze.
The announcement of a Raila-Kalonzo ticket elicited mixed reactions among Kenyans with some terming it as a re-match of the 2013 contest with the Jubilee team of President Uhuru Kenyatta and his running mate William Ruto.
