Part of Thika Superhighway to be closed for three months
A section of the Thika Superhighway will be closed for a period of three months, the Kenya Urban Roads Authority (Kura) said on Thursday.
Kura announced that the closed section will be at GSU headquarters at the junction of Outering road and Thika Superhighway.
The section will remain closed as from Easter Monday until July 18, 2019.
“Due to the ongoing construction works to improve the junction between Thika Superhighway and Outering Road, the Public is hereby notified that the Contractor shall close the overpass at GSU Headquarters as from Monday, 22nd April, 2019 till Thursday 18th July, 2019 (three months),” the statement read in part.
The notice also asked motorists to follow three instructions that will ensure the smooth running of traffic on the road.
SERVICE ROADS
It asked Thika bound vehicles coming from the Outering Road to take the right-hand service road of the Superhighway and turn right on the underpass at Survey of Kenya.
All vehicles heading to the airport from Nairobi CBD through the Outering road will use the left-hand side service road off Thika Superhighway up to the Garden City overpass then turn right and drive back to access Outering road.
Those headed back to Outering road using the same road will also have to go up to the Survey of Kenya then proceed to Garden City Overpass and go back to Outering road.
Kura further apologised for the inconvenience it has caused and thanked road users for being understanding.
