Pastor warns husbands to get rid of their innocent female besties, or else…
So besties are a thing. Women to women, men to men and women to men. Often times, it is a woman who decides if a man will be her bestie, not the other way around.
But sometimes, besties cross the line. You only have to read multiple Reddit subs to see women reveal how they learnt that their partner was in a relationship with his bestie or her own bestie, how the betrayal cut deep and how a person has now lost her husband and bestie at the same time.
Backtracking, a South African Pastor, Mr Rick Netshiozwi, particularly warned husbands against having such bestie relationships with women because it would spell doom for his marriage- whether the friendship is innocent or not.
“A married man cannot have a female bestie because his wife is his female bestie. What are you doing running around with that lady in the car alone, calling her your bestfriend? One day you will miss the mark with that particular lady and its going to destroy your union. Imagine if your wife has a male bestie that drives her everywhere, that buys her food, that does all…Do you thing you will be happy with a bestie like that? You must learn to do unto your wife what you would like to be done unto you. That is how you build a marriage. That relationship, get rid of it while there’s still time,” said the Pastor.
His stance, however, was met with expected reactions along the lines of what if he was best friends with the woman before marrying his wife. Nairobi News sampled some views below:
“But what if they were best friends before marriage, must they break the friendship? The thing is best friends have a more deep relationship,” countered O.C.C.
“My man is not even allowed to have male bestie I chased all of them away now am the bestie and everything .He can have our two daughters as besties 😅,” laughed Wakhungu.
“So marriage is a life sentence,” said Magwaza.
“I don’t agree. Sometimes you need someone you can confide in,” added a user.
“Nowadays they’re just co-worker’s ✨😏,” opined Lola.
“My man have his bestie he is older than me and him too but if she calls he cancels every thing and pick the phone responsibly he even switched me off,” revealed Allen.
“😂😂😂 pray for me guys, my man has plenty of these female bestie & he cant stand to see me even shaking hand with any man🥺😢,” revealed a user.
In Kenya, such relationships are stereotypically believed to be men and women putting each other in friend zones as besties, and given the slightest hint or provocation, the relationship quickly changes to a sexual one. Hence the slang phrase, ‘bestie bestie chubwi.’
