Police investigate death of man found dead in Imara Daima


Detectives in Nairobi have launched investigations into the death of a man, whose decomposing body was found dumped in a ditch near Imara Daima railway station, Nairobi.

Police were alerted by residents after noticing the body, which was emitting a foul odour, in their area suspect that the man found dead was killed at a different location and his body was later dumped where it was discovered.

The body of the unidentified man had visible head injuries, leading authorities to believe that he might have been struck on the head and killed in the incident on December 27.

He was found without any identification documents and his pockets appeared to have been ransacked.

The body was transferred to the morgue where it awaits identification and an autopsy as police continue their investigation to uncover more details about the case.

In a separate incident, detectives are investigating an incident in which the body of a 79-year-old grandmother who went missing over the weekend was discovered hanging on a tree in Makindu subcounty, Makueni county on Wednesday.

The body was found not far from her home in Kai village, police said.

Police said they are investigating to establish if she died by suicide or was killed and placed at the scene saying that the motive of the incident is yet to be known.

Her family said that when the woman left she said that she was going to visit her daughters in Mbooni, but when she did not return, they began searching for her.

They later found the body of the elderly woman hanging from a nearby tree.
