Nasa wants IEBC to declare Raila winner of presidential election

Nasa presidential candidate Raila Odinga has in a presser by his coalition been declared the duly elected President of Kenya.

In the press conference, a statement read out by co-principal Musalia Mudavadi indicated that Mr Odinga was leading in the race with 8,041,726 votes against President Uhuru Kenyatta’s 7,755,428 votes.

The statement and a letter to IEBC further demanded that Mr Odinga and his running mate Mr Kalonzo Musyoka be declared winners.

“We have annexed the actual and complete data contained in the IEBC servers with the serial number and the screenshots obtained from the website before. We therefore demand that you stop forthwith the display of unverified and unauthenticated results,” read the letter from Nasa to IEBC in part.

CONFIDENTIAL SOURCE

The coalition refused to divulge the identity of their “confidential sources at IEBC” on the votes for each candidate.

Mudavadi while responding to queries on how the coalition obtained final results before the IEBC receives all forms 34As said:

“The results were based on the figures obtained up to this point in time… these are as good as being final, I can tell you that. IEBC will make its declaration but we are pointing out the facts that are before us.”

The co-principal added that the opposition had no problem with the forms that were signed by their agents but insisted that not all forms had arrived at the national tallying centre at the Bomas of Kenya.

TALLYING PROCESS

“By the way let me also just add that we have the data which also shows the number of people who turned out to vote and we shall also make that available,” said Mudavadi.

He added that in a meeting with observers they questioned if the observers had access to where actual tallying took place and that was only done after the opposition raised issues.

Mr Mudavadi reiterated that the opposition had no problem with the voting but the tallying process.

Asked what the opposition will do if the IEBC declaration expected Friday midday does not declare their candidate as winner he said, “The duty of IEBC remains their duty we can only respond to them after they have made their declaration.”
