Rivals Oparanya, Khalwale tussle on Twitter
The battle for Kakamega county’s gubernatorial seat in the August elections has spilled into social media, with leading candidates Boni Khalwale and Wycliffe Oparanya involved in exchange of words on Twitter.
On Wednesday, incumbent Oparanya, who is seeking a second and final term in office as per the constitution, accused Khalwale of ferrying people to his political rallies.
The competition has become very tough. @KBonimtetezi has decided to ferry people in lorries from Kakamega town to attend his rallies ??? pic.twitter.com/OwKdCtfuKA

The tweet was accompanied by a picture of a lorry branded with Khalwale’s names.
Khalwale who is the area senator responded by claiming most of his “huge” rallies were spontaneous.
Ha! Didn’t u know that u are facing Khalwale, the master mobilizer? Careful, u might just loose ua mind. Our huge rallies are spontaneous https://t.co/FWVxjjCHDo

And he wasn’t done. Khalwale went ahead to accuse Oparanya of engaging in corruption.
Oparanya will be vying on an ODM ticket, whilst Khalwale flies the Ford-Kenya flag, in what is expected to be a closely fought battle.
