Ruto: I have only been to the hospital thrice
Deputy President William Ruto on Wednesday sensationally claimed that he has only been to the hospital thrice in his lifetime.
Mr Ruto who was urging Kenyans to take advantage of the medical facilities and personnel available countrywide for regular checkups admitted that he has never been accustomed to going for checkups.
The DP was speaking during the burial of his younger brother, the late Harrison Kiptoo Korir, in Kamagut, Uasin Gishu County.
Nairobi News sought to track down the rare Mr Ruto hospital visits as a patient and the most prominent one was back in 2007 when he was attacked at a rally in Kisii and had to be flown to Nairobi Hospital.
ATTACKED BY ROWDY YOUTHS
Mr Ruto and Mr Omingo Magara, then members of ODM, were attacked by rowdy youths as they disembarked a chopper to attend a funds drive by Ford leader Simeon Nyachae in South Mugirango.
In 2012, then blogger Dennis Itumbi wished the then Eldoret North MP quick recovery saying that he had been admitted at Nairobi Hospital. But Mr Ruto promptly denied the reports through a tweet:
I have seen a post on the Kenyan Daily Post as well as a tweet from @Ole Itumbi saying that I have been admitted to hospital. That is untrue

So rare are Ruto’s hospital visits that in May 2016 after the brutal killing of businessman Jacob Juma and that prompted rumoured rituals to have his killers punished, blogger Robert Alai started another online speculation that the DP had collapsed at his Karen home and rushed to Karen Hospital.
