Sonko’s wife come to aid of man who lived with sons in abandoned car – PHOTOS
Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko’s wife Primrose Mbuvi on Tuesday came to the rescue of a Kibera family that has been living in an abandoned car for two years.
The Nairobi First Lady offered to help the family after their plight was highlighted in a story aired last week on KTN.
The man identified as Ishmael Khamisi and his two sons aged 10 and 13 years live in Makina area. His wife abandoned him a decade ago when their last born was just six months old.
Mr Khamisi started living in the abandoned car he lost his job as a casual labourer.
Ms Mbuvi visited the family on Tuesday and promised to support the man and ensure his children return to a public school.
Khamisi’s two children school at Undugu Basic Education Unit in Kibra, where pupils are offered non-formal education for free.
The governor’s wife also said she will relocate the family and provide them with better shelter.
“I will provide a fully furnished house to Mr Khamisi, pay his rent for the next six months and also ensure his kids are back in schools,” she said.
She further promised to look for the mother of the two kids who separated with Khamisi 10 years ago.
