The Longombas: Lovy pays tribute to late brother Christian

March 13 marks a somber occasion for former musician Lovy Longomba as he commemorated the third death anniversary of his late brother, Christian Longomba.

Christian formed one-half of the iconic Longomba duo that dominated Kenyan airwaves in the early 2000s.

In a heartfelt message shared on his Instagram page, Lovy, now a preacher, expressed his enduring grief over the loss of his brother.

“03/13/2021 was one of the most difficult days of my life but the Grace of God kept me. I miss you, Christian.”

Christian Longomba’s untimely passing in 2021 came after a courageous battle with health complications stemming from a brain tumor surgery six years prior.

Doctors had initially projected a maximum lifespan of two to three years post-surgery, yet Christian defied the odds, exceeding their prognosis by over four years.

Lovy Longomba, a constant source of support and companionship during Christian’s medical journey, was by his brother’s bedside during his final moments at the Downtown Los Angeles hospital, where Christian spent his last two weeks.

Reflecting on his brother’s resilient spirit even amidst adversity, Lovy shared a tribute video detailing Christian’s unwavering laughter, energy, and zest for life, even in the face of pain.

“Even in pain, he still knew how to laugh, he would enjoy himself even to the last days,” Lovy reminisced.

With profound gratitude for the outpouring of love surrounding Christian, Lovy emphasized that despite the sorrow of their separation, he finds solace in knowing Christian’s ultimate destination. “I’m not crying because I don’t know where Christian is… living through it is a different thing,” Lovy expressed.

Addressing the complexities of Christian’s health condition, Lovy explained that while the tumor itself wasn’t cancerous, its invasive nature and the subsequent damage inflicted on the brain posed significant challenges.

Lovy noted: “It wasn’t cancerous, it was malignant but it was very big by the time they took it out the damage it had caused to the brain was just crazy. The doctors expected him to live normally for 2 to 3 years but Christian outlived that by 7 years.
